Les Balades de Pertuis

Trail characteristics
📏 Distance 11 km

Four walks around Pertuis to discover the town and its surroundings.

WALK N°1 - THE BALCONIES OF PERTUIS

6 to 7 Km - 2h30 Easy

Leaving the Tourist Office, take rue François Morel, cross Place Mirabeau, pass the fountain topped by the statue of Mirabeau and continue on rue Danton, 1st right, cross Place du 4 septembre.

Walk along the columned house (public granary 1857). Turn right into rue des Remparts, and you'll come to a mosaic tryptic, hundreds of hours in the making, created in 2020 by Pertuis resident Wolf Madet. Symbolizing the town's coat of arms in 1493, it represents Elion Senoni, consul of Pertuis, and King Charles VIII. Go down the street to the large free parking lot, with direct access to the town center via a public elevator. After the large parking lot, turn left. Cross the Eze ford on the footbridge largely inspired by Gustave Eiffel's work, then the Bd Jean Guigues (RD119). Take the Chemin Saint-Joseph opposite and follow it to the junction with the RD56, which you take for 350 meters. On your left is the Chemin de Bousette, which you follow to a crossroads with a tarmac road (signposted). Cross the road and continue on an unpaved track. There's a small path on your left: either take it (it runs between vineyards and woods) or continue and go round the place known as "Méléde". You pass under a large pine tree. In both cases, you come out onto a tarmac road. Turn left towards Le Saouzé (2km). Follow this road to a bend on your right (former Jewish cemetery), planted with olive trees. Pertuis sign. From here on, it would be an insult to guide you?

WALK N°2 - CHEMIN DE SAINT COLOME

6.5km - 2h30 Easy

Follow the same itinerary as for walk N°1? As far as the junction with the RD56. Go back down 100 meters, on your right. Cross the RD56 and turn left onto a small asphalt road which climbs. Continue north for 1.5km (view of the Luberon summit). 200 m after an isolated house, take the first gravel path on your right. Magnificent view of Pertuis, and further away, Sainte-Victoire. Follow this path for 1km, crossing the RD9 (route de la Bonde). Go straight ahead and turn right at 90° onto a dirt track, then a tarmac road towards Saint Colomé. Continue until you reach the RD9, which you have already crossed. Once you reach the road, turn left as far as the de Lattre de Tassigny traffic circle. From this point on, it would be an insult to guide you...

WALK N°3 - LE TOUREL

10km - 3h30 Easy

Leaving the Tourist Office, take rue François Morel, in the middle of Place Mirabeau, turn left towards Hôtel de Ville. Walk down rue Voltaire and rue Durance, then take the second left into rue Murette. You'll come to Place de la Diane, the city's oldest known watering place. At the traffic circle, turn right into rue Résini, past the Maison de la Culture et des Associations, and then left into VC N°6 de l'Espigon. Follow this asphalt road. Pass under the new bridge and continue to a major crossroads. On your right is the former convent, occupied by monks until 1774, then converted into a farm by François de Bruny, Baron de la Tour d'Aigues, and now privately owned. At 350 m, pass by a magnificent oak tree, continue. after 750 m, a crossroads leads back to Pertuis, on your right (only 4-5 km to go!). This is a very pleasant asphalt road, with cherry blossom trees in bloom in spring. It leads to the large Pompidou traffic circle (or rond-point du c?ur). Take Avenue de Verdun back to the town center.

WALK N°4 - THE STONE MAN

10 to 11Km - 3h30 Easy

Follow the same itinerary as walk N°3, until you reach rue Résini, where you turn right into rue Bonnemaison. At the large college traffic circle, cross over and continue along rue Bonnemaison, then Pierre Augier, towards the swimming pool and campsite. Drive past them into the valley. View of Sainte Victoire. Go towards côte 237. Continue straight on to Les Condamines, 1.5km away. At the agricultural watering place, turn left (hairpin bend), continue along the small asphalt road for 1.5km to the pumping station. Turn right onto Chemin du Claux 125 to reach the Beaupré housing estate. Cross it and follow the road to the RD973, where you will find a small, pleasant road almost opposite, which will take you back to Pertuis town center on the way back from trail no. 3, via Le Pivoulier.

All four routes are suitable for mountain biking.

CANAL WALK - PERMANENT ROUTE

11Km - 3h Easy

This three-hour tour will let you savor the quality of life in Pertuis, a town in the countryside.

-From the Tourist Office, walk south through the Cours de la République to the Fontaine Morel. Turn left and take the path along the canal, formerly known as the "canal des moulin", a water-rich area.

- Continue up the left bank for about 3.5km to reach a small stone bridge. This itinerary takes in some superb bastide towns and landscapes overlooking the valley, with views of Sainte-Victoire. The jewel in the crown of this walk is a magnificent paddlewheel under the Castellane property, which once carried water to the noble bastide of the Castellane family. You can quench your thirst at the drinking water spring before climbing back up through the vineyards.

- Leave the banks of the canal to reach the road where you'll find yellow markings that you'll need to keep to until you reach Pertuis. Follow this road to the right for approx. 2.2km (beware of traffic).

- Turn left in the direction of "TOURMIRE" and, at the signpost, take the small road on the left in the direction of "CALLAMAND". In the distance, the hills of Les Trois Frères and Concors.

- At the entrance to Prtuis, walk past the swimming pool and return to the starting point via rue Pierre Augier, rue Des Festons, rue Colbert and rue Danton.
